In Like a Lion

Things have been a little disorienting lately.

I think it's the season.

T.M.T.S.

I'm going to Ohio this Saturday!

The last time I visited it was summertime, and all my sister and I did was picnic and take long walks along the wayside, and make mimosas and bread pudding. Come to think of it, it was just about the Fourth of July.

I'm trying to adjust my expectations, because it's February, and school's in session, but things were just so lazy and dreamy last time that it's hard to imagine it being anything but.

Change of Address

I hope you didn't get lost on your way over here.

I'm still settling in, but hopefully things will be back to normal soon. I can really only apologize, and hope that you found me over here, and say that I got kind of spooked about the wrong people finding my blog, or getting mad at me for having it, and so I packed up and left in a hurry. I realize I left a link, which might seem kind of counter-intuitive, but it had more to do with erasing my tracks on google (ugh cached links freak me out, but that's another story...) than anything else. Mostly, it was paranoia. I'm trying to convince myself it was unwarranted, because I'd like to keep this blog, and keep existing online, but like it usually is when it comes, it's hard for me to accept (although on many levels I understand) that nobody hates me/is coming after me.

At any rate, I'm here now, and if you're reading this post there's no real damage done. The archives are intact (and in case I get too anxious, they're saved to my hard drive). I'm sorry I made such a big show about running off like that. What I'm trying to say is, it was good of you to come.

Catkins

I was out in the yard today, and out in the park, looking for green things and sinking my boots into snow-melt mud. At the very edge of our lawn there's a contorted pussy-willow with catkins just starting to pop out, and I stood for a minute and thought about snapping off a branch of that fuzzy February sigh of relief to put in a vase like I have for last few years, in Galesburg. For whatever reason, it does not seem so urgent here.

The Clean Plate Club

It was sixty degrees today, and I made footprint hearts in the melting snow and two friends drove up from the District just to take me out for dessert. We talked about the future, and how it isn't right now.

Dating Advice

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, surely you are thinking a lot about your relationships (or lack thereof). It can be a stressful time. Don't worry, though. In honor of the holiday, I've got some dating advice, circa 2001/2002, to help you out-- it's the least I can do.

Well, you didn't think I was going to give away names, did you? That would make me a BAD FRIEND.

I'm real busy making something. Come back later.
